Leadership Expeditions Guide

Sebastián has a Bachelor's degree in Forest Engineering from Universidad de Chile and a Master's degree in Landscape and Urban Ecology from the State University of New York, College of Environmental Science and Forestry.

Sebastián has 13 years of experience as a mountain guide, facilitating outdoor experiences designed to develop social skills and leadership. He has run a number of programs, including leadership expeditions in Patagonia for the Wharton Leadership Ventures program in 2005, 2006 and 2007, in the Southern Ice Fields for the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in 2005, and programs in Antarctica since 2007. In 2006 Sebastián successfully summited Mount Lhotse, his first 8,000m peak, and Mount Everest in 2012.

Drawing from his experience as a mountain guide, Sebastián has been involved in the design, development and implementation of sustainable urban planning projects. Enthusiastic about the implementation of scientific and technical knowledge in public policy, Sebastián is now involved in a nation-wide effort to implement sustainable public transportation systems in Mexican cities. He currently works as a transport systems coordinator for the Center for Sustainable Transport of Mexico (EMBARQ-WRI), and seeks to complement the technical dimension of urban planning –with emphasis  on massive transport projects– by coaching project leaders on how to achieve high performance teams at Municipal and Federal levels of urban administration.
